Emerald Prime & Store Sale Report Tuesday 27th October 2022

Sale Report Agents offered just over 1300 head at Emerald Sale today, with the season being so good for so long, most descriptions of cattle presented in particularly good condition. Some quality drafts of No. 2 steers and heifers had buyers bidding strongly over the choice cattle on offer, and general trend of the day had most descriptions much dearer than the last sale 2 weeks ago, the odd decline was purely quality related. Heavy Bullocks were too few to reliably quote, heavy feeder steers 400-500kg topping at 596c/kg to average 461 cents, 350-400kg steers reached 656c/kg to average 601 cents, while 280-350kg topped at 698c/kg to average 585 cents. Heavy heifers over 400kg getting both feed on and processor competition, topped at 482c/kg to average 407 cents, 350-400kg trade feeder heifers topped at 504c/kg to average 445 cents, heifers 280-350kg reached 576c/kg, while heifers in the weaner weight ranges topped at 586c/kg to average 504 cents. Heavy cows over 520kg topped at 382c/kg to average 364c/kg, cows 450-520kg reached 376c/kg to average 360 cents, while heavy bulls over 600kgs sold to 350c/kg. No Cows and Calves were on offer this week.

Sale Highlights: Rowe Cattle Co ‘Buffel Park’ Moranbah sold a line of Charbray and Brahman Cross Steers with the lead pen making to 656c/kg to weigh 357c\kg or $2347, The Hayden Family ‘Janibee Valley’ consigned Brangus Steers to 606c/kg to weigh 330kg or $2000. Tony & Louise Prentice ‘Jamar’ Emerald sold Santa Cross Steers reaching 612c/kg to weigh 356kg or $2182 while their Heifer portion made to 482c/kg and weighed 447kg or $2155. The Jansen Family ‘Riverview’ Alpha consigned Angus Cross Heifers topping at 498c/kg to weigh 375kg or $1868.
