Sale: Report Similar numbers were offered from a fortnight ago with almost 1400 head penned at Emerald today. Quality offered was fairly good and values remained firm to slightly easier, but still competition was still strong on the quality cattle. In the prime section bullocks over 550kgs sold to 392c/kg to average 372c/kg, heavy steers 500-550kgs topped at 424c/kg to average 392, heavy heifers over 400kgs coming under feeder & prime competition reached 466c/kg to average 377c/kg, heavy cows over 520kgs topped at 348c/kg to average 338c/kg, cows 450-520kgs made as much as 338c/kg to average 329c/kg, while bulls over 600kgs sold to 333c/kg. In the store section, heavy feeder steers 400-500kgs reached 532c/kg to average 491c/kg, trade feeder steers 350-400kgs sold to 584c/kg to average 544c/kg, 280-350kgs steers topped at 694c/kg to average 549c/kg, weaner steers 200-280kgs made as much as 664c/kg to average 530c/kg, while light steers under were too few to quote. Trade feeder heifers 350-400kgs sold to 460c/kg to average 404c/kg, 280-350kg heifers topped at 550c/kg to average 442c/kg, weaner heifers 200-280kgs made as much as 574c/kg to average 432c/kg, while light heifers under 200kgs sold to 460c/kg. 2 pens of large frame Euro Cross cows with branded calves at foot approx. 4 months old, sold for $3250/unit
Sale Highlights: The New Family “Many Waters” Nebo sold Santa cross No. 1 Steers to top at 558c/kg for 377kgs and $2107, while the Sparrow Family “Malden” Alpha had their 593kg Droughtmaster cows to 347c/kg and $2059. The Anderson Family “Brendans Past Co” Alpha had their Brahman weaner steers to 592c/kg for 265kgs and $1650. Garnett & Lindley Hollier “Cluen Station” Dysart offered 418kg Droughtmaster steers to 490c/kg and $2049, while the 285kg Droughtmaster weaners from “Chasford” Moranbah” account the Pownall Family made to 678c/kg and $1936. The Garside & McPhail Family “Mt Walker” Dysart sold 276kg Angus weaner steers to make 664c/kg for 276kgs and $2140, while Dan & Tara Perry “Glendon” Emerald offered 290kg Droughtmaster weaner heifers to 530c/kg and $1545. Lawrence & Pat Hack “Rocklea” Alpha offered 2 pens of large frame Euro Cross cows with branded calves at foot approx. 4 months old, sold for $3250/unit.
